Privacy Policy

Protecting your privacy is very important to us. This privacy policy governs our use of information we may gather from visitors to the CareerSonar website at www.careersonar.com (the “Site”), and describes how we may collect, use and disclose such information. By using the Site, you agree to this privacy policy.

What Type of Information We Collect

Technical and usage information. Like most website operators, we automatically collect non-personally identifiable information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available as part of their communication. This may include information such as the browser type, referring site and access times. The purpose of collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how visitors use the Site, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding the use of the Site. From time to time, we may release non-personally-identifiable information in aggregated form, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of the Site. We also collect computer generated information such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, however we do not use such information to identify our visitors, and do not link the information to personally identifiable information about you.

Personally identifiable information. Certain visitors to the Site choose to interact with it in ways that require us to gather personally identifiable information. The amount and type of information that we gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors to provide their email address to allow them to receive scheduled email alerts. Some information we may ask you to provide directly, while certain personally identifiable information is provided by third party social and professional networks you choose to log in to the Site with, such as Facebook or LinkedIn. See a more detailed description of how we work with these third party networks below. You can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent you from accessing the Site or engaging in certain Site-related activities.

Information received from social and professional networks. When you log into the Site using your Facebook or LinkedIn accounts (“your networks”), we receive some of the personal information you provided to your networks. We require this information so that we can create your account (information such as your name, profile picture, work information, friends/connections information, and email address). This information is collected in accordance with your privacy settings in your networks, and in compliance with all relevant policies of those networks.

You may disconnect your CareerSonar account from your networks at any time, by clicking on the “Sign Out” link accessible by clicking on your name or profile picture on the top right corner of every page on the Site. You may also revoke access to each individual network by disabling access to CareerSonar on the network’s website.

What We Do With Information We Collect

CareerSonar collects personally identifiable information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of your interaction with the Site, to understand your needs and to provide you with better service. For example, we may use the information:

  • To personalize your experience (your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs).
  • To improve the Site (we continually strive to improve the Site based on the information and feedback we receive from you).
  • To communicate with you regarding your use of the Site, including emailing you information, responding to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.

Note: If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, consult the unsubscribe instructions that are included at the bottom of every email.

Disclosure

We will not sell, rent or otherwise provide your personally identifiable information to anyone other than as described in this section without your consent. We may disclose personally identifiable information only to those of our employees, contractors and trusted affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to provide services available on the Site, and that (ii) have agreed to keep the information strictly confidential and use appropriate security measures to protect it. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using the Site, you consent to the transfer of such information to them.

Other than as described above, we may disclose personally identifiable information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of CareerSonar, third parties or the public at large. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users.

Security

We are committed to ensuring that your personally identifiable information is secure. We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personally identifiable information when you enter, submit, or access it. We take reasonable precautions consistent with industry practice to protect your information from misuse and unauthorized access, use or disclosure. These precautions may include firewalls, internal restrictions, password protection and other security measures. However, while we strive to protect your privacy, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat any security measures and gain access to information you transmit to the Site.

Removal of Personally Identifiable Information

You may submit a request by email to info@careersonar.com for CareerSonar to remove your Personally Identifiable Information from our records. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to honor your request.

Cookies

We may use cookies on the Site to improve your online experience and assist us in administration of the Site. A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on a visitor’s computer. The purpose of a cookie is to help the website identify visitors, measure their usage of the website and their website access preferences. The website can then tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences. For example, if you connect to the Site with your Facebook or LinkedIn account, a cookie helps us recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal settings, such as your personalized Sonar, starred jobs and so on. When you return to the Site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the features that you customized.

You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to take full advantage of the Site.

Links to other websites

The Site may contain links to other websites that are not owned or operated by us. These third party websites have separate and independent privacy policies and are not governed by this privacy policy, and so once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over those other websites. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information that you provide while visiting such websites. You should exercise caution and review the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Children’s Privacy

The Site is not intended for children under the age of sixteen, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of sixteen.
